What tricks do your dogs know?

Golly is working on being a good puppy who can keep all 4 of his paws on the floor when he greets people. But on the fun side he has learned to bark, give his paw, touch things with his nose which has turned in to him being able to turn the vacuum on. He also knows how to spin, back up, sit at a distance and when he is at his aunty Lori's house he can stick his whole leg and head inside of her automatic live stock waterer to play with the red ball that keeps the water from spilling out all of the time.

Golly knows alot more than Murphy. I taught Murphy the basics when he was just 2-3 months old. He knows sit/stay, roll over, play dead, speak, "give me paw", "high five" (thanks to Lori), and one other where he acts like he's being arrested.....you will all see that one, it's funny.

Nice work Murphy. Golly hasn't gotten as far as roll over or play dead yet. We will have to teach all of the kids to wave so we can get a group shot of them at lab fest.

Bailey knows, sit-stay-leave it-take it-roll-down-high five-shake-how to push the ball on the automatic water to get a drink(thanks golly),
Zach knows basic's sit- stay down- leave it- take it.
Ellie knows sit and down
Jessie knows sit-down-roll-leave it-take it-stay-
And they all come home to three blows to the whistle...not one or two but three.

Does it look like the queen bee taught her pack how to sit? And she looks like she is smug about it!!!

That's my girl!

Bailey learning a new trick!

Sookie knows the basic, sit, stay, down. Also play dead, take a bow, roll over, spin left, spin right, weave between my legs when I walk, shut the door, walk backwards, and "target" an object. Some agility commands, too.

But my all time favorite is for her to bark on the command "don't bite". When we're walking and if someone makes me nervous (I live in a city), I pull her towards me and say "Sookie, don't bite." And she starts barking. It's worked whenever I've used it, which luckily isn't often.

In the middle of teaching her to lay down on a blanket, put part in her mouth and roll over. The effect, if we ever get there, is to wrap herself up in a blanket.

OK, we're weird, but I've got to keep working with that nonstop mind of hers! And I can only come up with so many ideas! :)

I teach my dogs to "mind out" when strangers make me nervous and to them that means bark like they are crazy. It's the same as your don't bite. works great in the car at red lights when people want to ask for money. They don't even look at my truck.

It's hard work to have smart dogs, it's no wonder were all a little nuts.

Ohhhh......I like "mind out". We did "don't bite" more for the other persons sake. I live in a neighborhood where there are occassional gun shots, gang stuff and see blood on the sidewalks every now and then, so I wanted something the other person would understand.

Amen to the nuts part!!! There are days like today when I long for the days with Alex where I just threw the ball over and over and she was happy. This one looks at me like, "Do I look like a retreiver?" She requires so much more on my part. Yep. Nuts!

Just think you could do rescue from home like Lori and have more then one smarty pants running around looking for a new job every 2 seconds. I'm so glad that Golly only requires a few minutes a day of mental work. Then we can just play and be happy. I don't know how you all the the to smart for their own good kids do it.
